Writephoto 1st July: The Cow

For visually challenged writers, the image shows a single cow on a cobbled beach sipping from the water.
Stan Laurel apparently said
‘You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be lead’.
Somehow it doesn’t sound quite the same when you replace horse with ‘cow’.
This one wasn’t led anywhere, she just made her own way here, to cool her hooves, satisfy her thirst, and maybe enjoy the peace and tranquility of the moment.
The setting is probably more relaxing than chomping in a field all day with her counterparts and the sound of traffic whizzing by. Who could blame her?
Can’t be much of a life for a cow……… eating grass and getting full udders, then someone clamps cold unfeeling metal contraptions on your teats and sucks the life out of them.
At least with a milk maid she had warm hands and cared.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I am terrified of cows πŸ’œ

    • Really? I think they have the most lovely eyes. My uncle and Aunt had one so fresh milk every day and she’d make her own butter. Both Maggie and Barney’s first confrontation with a cow was hilarious as both were fine until it mooed then it was straight into Hubby’s arms!!

Well when hubby and I were about 17yrs and 21 years we got caught in a stampede of cows. We were in a field on a footpath, we heard what we thought was thunder! It was a herd of cows charging over the brow of the hill. We stood in a bush that was in the field and clung to eachother! The cows brushed by us some just swerving away at the last minute! I have never been so scared and I have never got over it! πŸ’œ

      • Wow, that is indeed scary.

It was very scary , I have never got over it . Cow are SO BIG! πŸ’œ

      • This is very true. Mind you, from your photos, you are tiny, so it would have been even more scary.
We have some friendly ones in a field not far from here who come up to the fence to be petted!

It’s strange I really could not cope with even that ! πŸ’œ
