It’s another scorcher. I was awake at 5.30. but managed to get back to sleep after a restless night watching the clock at 45 minute intervals until around 3. The heat is too much for me, and I am flagging within a couple of hours.
I did the washing this morning, then after breakfast and putting it out, went up the road to do a little shopping………….. and wish I hadn’t.
Just gone 9.30 and it was manic, drivers coming at you from all directions, and nobody giving an inch. Nowhere to park, though I was lucky and as I was waiting for a car to pass me coming the other way, someone moved out. Couldn’t get what I wanted in that shop though.
On to the supermarket, and they had three deliveries in. Again nowhere to park, and I had to go round twice before I found somewhere, then nearly got carved up in the process.
Inside it was bedlam. The foyer and shop floor were filthy, and stocks already depleted. They are doing their usual summer trick by only stocking the more expensive packs of dry goods like pasta and rice. I got the last two yogurts I like, the fresh fruit was going fast, though I did get strawberries, grapes, 2 kiwis and bananas. I also got some tomatoes to go with my prawns today. My neighbour brought round a little gem lettuce this morning, nothing like freshly picked and fond memories of picking apples for crumbles and sauce, and lemons in NZ for G&Ts.
Hubby is still resting up, and getting more crotchety by the hour. He hates being ‘idle’, even more so as I have to do most of the work at the moment, not that I mind.
So, we’re in for another quiet day of sweating it out and hoping for rain.
Hope you’re all having a good day though. Take care and keep safe.
I hope the weather gives you a break. Our temps are in early 40s but we are equipped for it with air conditioners. It’s not supposed to get that hot in your country.
It was 28 degrees indoors yesterday afternoon, and 23 degrees in the bedroom at 2 am.
Too hot to go without air conditioning.
Not practical for us I’m afraid so we rely on opening doors and windows and fans.
Let’s hope the weather gets milder.
Note: this is celsius so equates to 82.4 and 73.4 farenheit
We measure our temps in Celsius too. Our temps will go up to 48- 50 during the peak summer.
I’d wilt!!!
I know. I’ve seen many visitors from the west who just can’t cope with it.
The weather here finally cooled off. I had to pull up a blanket last night as I was chilled… I’m glad you were able to at least get the fresh fruit! We went to the grocery yesterday and saw karma play out in a satisfactory way. A man & woman had parked in a handicapped spot (we noticed going in) and when we exited they were still there – because their car broke down and they were in the midst of trying to get it running again! We left before they could get it working but I’m hoping they had to have it towed!!
Poetic justice.
I hope that the temperature drops and gives you much needed relief. It’s 26 indoors here and this is one of the hotter days. Thanks to the rains over here, the temperature is not rising up. I hope your hubby gets well soon!
thank you!
Same thing going on here, folks were so ready to get out. The beach is crowded and the water temperature is over 70′. I’m like you I try to get out early. I hope you get some rain today.
Sadly not a cloud in the sky……… BUT it does appear cooler. Either that, or I’m getting used to it!
Thanks for the conversion from C to F, as America (well this part of America) is still not in step with Celcius. I admit I was chuckling. I ‘get’ it that you and Sadje have way more humidity over in your countries than we do here (it’s fairly low), and that our heat is ‘dry’, but I was looking at the temps and thinking “I WISH!”. We saw 95 (F) yesterday, and will see the same or higher today. Crunchity Frog posted that New Mexico had 105 yesterday and her A/C was on the fritz too. I guess it’s all relative, isn’t it? I still stand by the fan and spray bottle ‘cure’ for heat, spritzing oneself periodically with water from the bottle and being in the direct path of the fan always cools me off, but I realize again, that it’s all perspective. No disrepect intended of course. But I’m still chuckling! 😉
I know Melanie! We Brits just ain’t used to hot weather for long periods and are more used to rain and chilly weather! It wasn’t that long ago I was moaning about the freezing winds coming off the North Sea. At least in the winter when you’re cold you can add layers, but trying to keep cool, there’s only so much you can take off!!! Keep spritzing my friend!
Oh my goodness! This sounds awful – the stifling humidity when the temps do not drop at night, and then the manic shops!
I hope at least the weather cools down for you. 🙂
Cool shower on the cards tonight before I retire I think!
😀
I hope the rest of the day went well!
It was a pretty good day yesterday
Excellent, not bad here either 💜
