TODAY’S QUESTION

What are some unusual or out of the way sources of inspiration that get you writing? What unusual places, things or events inspire you to write ?

Ah, it depends what you’d call ‘unusual’.
I am an avid people watcher, or I was before Covid hit and we stopped having so many field trips for over a year.
People these days fall into two categories, those who wear masks and socially distance, and those who don’t.  So easy to spot the visitor as they are nearly always in the second.

Animals and birds also amuse me and provide thought for blogger fodder, as are diets, good, bad, success or failure!

Observations in the park or garden can provide inspiration, and at the moment our roses are doing splendidly.

Unusual places though……….. hm.
At school, I used to write some of my better poetry in the loo. I always had a pencil in my pocket and could write on the toilet paper which was that shiny hard stuff, not soft tissue LOL
I’ve had inspiration in bed at night and now keep a pad and pencil in my bedside drawer.

Of course the very best place for inspiration was when we were up river on the boat.
Such peace and tranquility, it was another world.

Both pictures are mine.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Inspiration can strike anytime, even in the loo.

I keep a pad in the car and in the bedroom. Those are the 2 places where inspiration is most likely to strike!
