Today is Thursday 3rd June

It is now 3.30 in the afternoon and I have just accessed my blog.
The day has been warm and sunny, the washing is out on the line and we’ve had a field trip.

Our plan was to go early, but when I turned my laptop on this morning, I could have walked round the block before I got to the sign on screen, everything was S O  S L O W.
Hubby did a bit of behind the scenes digging and discovered a few things going on not of my making, so we did some housekeeping. Skype was opening sessions for no reason and our antivirus checker was fighting another we didn’t even know we had on board!
Anyway, we got away by 9.45.

Traffic was building up but at least moving until we hit the main road into town, so turned off and went in the back way. Local knowledge comes into its own then.
We ended up parking a considerable distance from where we wanted to go, so had a good walk to start the day!
The town was heaving. So many people, and nobody giving an inch. Wearing masks, two of the few who were, we tried to keep socially distant, but were barged and shoved out of the way by impatient types trying to get into cake shops or takeaways, and the one way system in the shopping arcade was totally ignored as people came at us from all directions.
We got a few things we saw on special offer, then escaped back to the High Street pretty sharpish.
We were hoping to find some footstools but there was no way I intended to pay £65 for a sheep or hippo to put my feet on, smilingly cute or not.
We had a cup of tea and snack in the car, then went to one of the other supermarkets we frequent for cleaning stuffs. Turns out I have loads in the cupboard which had got pushed out of sight when Hubby was having a clear up. Never mind, I’m set for the next year now!

Lunch today was lasagna for Hubby and fish, wedges and mixed veg for me.
Let the day continue!
Hope yours is good.
Take care and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. It really does sound as if Britain is back to normal now, Di. I wouldn’t pay GBP 65 for a footstool either.

  2. You have a great day too, Di! ❤ One thing that took a massive hit during Covid was the level of manners people exhibit in public now. So rude. I was at the store the other day and some woman kept coming really close to me (I'm in a wheelie cart, so have a little distance just from the machine). I finally turned and glared at her and said "DO YOU MIND NOT STANDING SO CLOSE TO ME?" in an icy voice. She turned red and got lost. I have to wonder if she had her eye on my purse, because there are pick-pockets in the stores sometimes.

  3. Some people just can’t understand the concept of social distancing. Even here, where most of the people are not vaccinated and the cases are still insanely high

Hi Di, you sound busy but happy 💜

Our county has dropped to 30 new cases a day (down from thousands) and it continues to drop BUT we are still masking when we go out and about!

sorry the crowds were so ignorant! Glad you had a nice field trip though! xoxo
