It’s the last day of May and we have been busy all morning.
Hubby has been meaning to sort out the roof for a while, so seeing as town was likely to be heaving again as it is such a glorious day (our road has been inundated with visitors to the beach today) and we didn’t need anything in the way of shopping, we set to.
Hubby threw down the empty boxes for the lawnmower, ceiling and upright fans, DVD, microwave, mini hi-fi, computer monitor, hoover and our new laptops, which I flattened then taped together for the recycle bin guys on Wednesday. We also found the small hoover from the boat, our chunky stereo system and an old blind.
I put the hoover in a box with FREE and WORKING on it, and sat it on the drive. A guy walked by and asked if it worked. I said it did, so he asked if he could have it. I told him of course! I did the same with the stereo and a guy stopped in his car to ask what was wrong with it. I said nothing as far as we knew but it had been up in the roof for three years, so he took it. Our model making friend in the next road was happy to take the box of fittings from the cupboard and some electrical ceiling fitments we’d replaced.
We have a shredder that works, but Hubby can use the transformer on his potential next project, so the casing on that and the blind will go out for the scrappie. Our neighbour had room in her bin for the last four blocks of polystyrene , so we will be able to dispose of everything without a tip run. Hurrah!
It is now after 3pm, so we are going to don masks and walk up the road as we try to get back into the habit of daily walks. Hubby needs a plug for his drill which he has had to replace the flex on and that’s as good an excuse as any. He’s serviced it too as the hammer drill mode kept engaging. If for any reason it still doesn’t work properly, he’s lost nothing and along with some new tools to replace those that have bit the dust on the wardrobes, we can get a new one tomorrow.
