Today is Wednesday 19th May

Welcome to a gloriously sunny morning over here in the UK. We have been up early and the usual mundane things of meter reading, housework and breakfast have been done.
Hubby is outside doing the paving slabs, and after I publish this, I shall be getting the card kit out and making a few more.
Hubby has done me a cute little sign to put up in the window, so you never know, I may have some takers. If not, I’ll have a box brimming with cards to give as gifts as I did last year.

Lunch today is going to be a corned beef hash, then tomorrow we shall be back to stew for a few days. This is the longest period of time between stews for a while, so we are not pushing our luck as regards Hubby’s digestion.

I have been having a smoothie most mornings, but find they are not enough to keep me going until lunchtime, so I had some cereal as well today. I put my last banana on that as I don’t like the texture in a smoothie, much preferring soft fruit like strawberries and raspberries. I added grapes and blueberries today, so I am getting plenty of fresh fruit in my diet! The weight is currently stable, as is Hubby’s so we are doing OK in that department.

We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    Nothing much for me today, then mainly relaxing.
    I just finished reading a book, followed my a magazine. Now going to carry on with some sewing of name labels in mum’s clothes.

  2. Today is garbage day here, so I was up really early (my mind started whirring and what are ya gonna do when that happens?) I got the bin out to the curb without falling over, a win in my book as last night my diabetes acted up and I had a sugar crash late in the evening. I had ham and fruit for dinner, and I guess there just weren’t enough carbs in that to carry me through. I understand your frustration with the smoothie doing the same kind of thing. Can you add granola or cereal to your smoothie to make it a bit more sustaining? Or would the texture ick you out? The way you did things sounds like it works though, so maybe it’s best not to mess with success. (whoa! that rhymed! 😉 ) I hope your cards sell, but if not, I’m sure the recipients of your gift will be very pleased to get them!

    • I have a plan B should I not get any takers and can gift them a gift parcels or to a charity tombola that our friends over the road have connections to.

    We add some ground flax seed or chia seeds to our smoothies… The chia seeds are soaked over night in the blender with a little milk or juice… Helps give the smoothie some staying power along with healthy fiber!
