Letter to Ani

Dearest Ani,

I was going through Maggie’s pictures the other day and there you are. You could have been twins you know. You both had a liking for chicken and cheese and you share so many facial expressions.

Our precious Maggie.

Just wanted to let you know that we are thinking about you and wondering how you’re settling in to the new routine with The Ball Guy. Hopefully you will still be seeing your two legs family from time to time too. Change is difficult for everyone and grief takes its toll in different ways.
Always in my thoughts Sweetheart. We miss your Two Legs too.

Much Love,

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I’m sure it has been a hard adjustment for the small dog.

    • I can imagine. She’s been on my mind as I know animals grieve but she is with people she knows who love her and that’s important. Thanks for commenting Trent.

  2. Oh, what a beautiful post. I love it! And Maggie and Ani Could have been sisters! What a resemblance! I also wonder all the time how Ani, Sue’s sons and her 2 precious grand daughters are doing. It must be so hard for them. I think about them often and I still expect to see a new post from Sue every time I turn my computer on.

    • Ani and Maggie were indeed very similar. Sue often said she had to do a double take as I did. Ani’s pictures are from previous posts of Sue’s that I reblogged.

Precious post. Our dog missed us when we go on vacation for a week. I can imagine how they grieve when someone is gone.

  7. How beautiful. You are amazing, Di! You have a gift for knowing the right words to say. ❤

    • Thanks Melanie. My rough collie grieved for my GSD (well, she was partner’s really, but I always saw her as my dog because she bonded with me). Ani is so like Maggie.

  8. This is a lovely post, Di. Thank you for sharing.

This is so lovely. I do wonder how Ani is getting on these days and adjusting. We lost our big lad just over a year ago now and our little dog has never quite been the same since. They feel so much. Beautiful, beautiful post. KL ❤
