Today is Friday 14th May

It’s after 4pm and I have just accessed my blog as we’ve been busy.
We had a field trip this morning as Hubby wanted me to have a new hoodie, and I also needed to go to the bank. Using the New Machine wasn’t so terrifying today and I soon got to grips with it. Everything is as it should be and we are still solvent!
From there we went to get my hoodie as my black one is going rusty. What is it about some black items of clothing that go coppery in patches? Plenty of wear left in it, but it looks a mess, so Hubby badgered me to replace it. I bought a navy blue one today and the black one is now in the bin.

I had another smoothie for my breakfast, this time with strawberries, blueberries, grapes, mangoes and yogurt. It was lovely, so I will probably not use bananas in future. I also had no problem with loading it or getting it to whiz (although I had to remove the frozen mangoes to defrost them as they were too hard, so will do the same with any frozen fruit in future), and found this cute little symbol which when matched up with the one on the base of the unit slotted everything into place perfectly.

Lunch was the rest of our chili with jacket potatoes and I did extra veg for me.

We have been out in the garden today and the rest of our veg has been laid out from their ‘nesting pots’. I’ve started off half a dozen dwarf beans as the ones we tried last year yielded ten beans tops despite our best efforts so we thought we’d try a different strain.
Hubby has now dug me a flower bed and the six geraniums my neighbours gave me have been planted in that. We have also sprinkled a variety of flower seeds in between the two rows and will see what comes up. It will bring some colour into the garden, and that particular side is now all floral as our rose bushes are there. Two of the three lilac cuttings seem to have taken, but we are leaving the third for the time being as that was planted directly outside so might take a little longer to establish.

While Hubby was digging over the junk plot in readiness for our potatoes and leeks, I cut the lawn both front and back.
Both of us are now knackered, but we’ve had a productive day and feeling good in general.
Hope you’re all having a good day.
Keep safe.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Sounds a lovely productive day and I am loving the sound of your garden. I hope you get lovely crops and a nice display of flowers again.

My husband informed me that my irises are blooming – they are hidden on the side of the house without windows… Your flower garden will no doubt be lovely when all the flowers start blooming! A productive day is always good. I had some black clothes start to get orange spots – found out that my machine was dripping bleach on them. Switched to a non-chlorine whitener and eliminated the issue….

    • Interesting about the bleach. We use a liquid that goes in the drum and have been for years. I have other black clothes, but the hoodie was the only thing affected.
