Today’s Sunday Writing Prompt from Sara is Beautiful Mistake.
Did you choose the wrong partner, but developed boundaries and self-confidence that prepared you for the right one?
Did you accidentally knock your coffee over your written manuscript, but when you re-wrote, it turned out even better?
Did you take a job you ended up hating, but made a new best friend?

I chose the wrong partner twice, but third time lucky, which I’ve already written about in For Better or Worse.
So, my beautiful mistake has to be in the kitchen.
I love to cook, but some of my efforts didn’t exactly go to plan. I mean, I cried the first time I did roast potatoes as they didn’t go crispy, and my attempt at bread pudding (not bread and butter pudding) without a recipe ended up being cooked twice but actually tasted OK.
When I was bringing up a family, we had a wide selection of Frisbee cakes. These were failed victoria sponges which hadn’t risen so were covered with custard and decorated with hundreds and thousands or chocolate sprinkles.
I’ve found the secret now though, but if cakes don’t work, the custard trick does.
Chocolate chip cookies were invented by mistake and so were potato chips.
So apparently were the dark Ryvita as someone burnt a batch and it became a best seller!
Umm, cake.
From someone who can make a banquet from the simplest of ingredients. xx
I remember!
Love those cakes!
cheesecake is more my specialty now.
You cried because of non-crispy roast potatoes?! I smother them in gravy myself, so it wouldn’t have bothered me one bit 🙂 I like the angle you took on the prompt!
Thanks. Yep I hadn’t been married very long and was gutted my spuds weren’t crisp, then a dear friend told me her secret and I never had a problem after that.
