The weather is miserable and the rain likely to be with us for the next couple of days.
The three water butts are now full to overflowing but things in the garden are growing, especially our roses and the lilac cuttings I took.
We took our neighbour up for her dental appointment today as promised and while she was being filled went up to the DIY store to price our materials for the wardrobes and check stock. They had everything we wanted, and lots of it so we were very pleased, that was until we asked about delivery, or at least Hubby did as I was having a few problems with my mask and getting claustrophobic so had to leave the store.
It would appear that despite having LOADS of stock, they would not deliver from there, nor their other branch 18 miles in the other direction from us. In fact, delivery would have to come from their large store 35 miles away, and because we lived outside the 25 mile radius (which we wouldn’t if the locals had a delivery service), we’d have to pay £35 or so delivery charges. However, we could purchase the items from the store and bring them home with no problem. Sadly, I am not happy about loading stuff up on the roof of the car.
Talk about ripping people off, especially as the goods would be sent from their warehouse, not the larger store in question! Where is the logic I ask myself. We are not impressed.
Following on from there we went into a discount hardware store for a look around, and I was dismayed to discover they no longer do any of the card trimmings I’ve used in the past, and nothing other than little stickers young children would put on their exercise books. The local outlet here has some items, but not what I prefer, so once again I shall be improvising and experimenting with different things for my hobby.
Hubby’s book for his radio course arrived yesterday, so he is getting read up and keen to start. He has also realised why he can hear people but they can’t hear him, and it’s down to insufficient battery power. The little battery he had hoped to utilise from the model boat he made is 2 point 3 amps, but the one he is going to source next week for the job is just slightly bigger at 35 amps!
Lunch today was a cottage pie with baked beans thrown in. It was really nice but too much in one sitting so we can have the rest tomorrow. Monday is our anniversary and our neighbour has told us that the Co-op have takeaway package deals which will suit us as we can have our main meal during the day as normal. the Chinese takeaway opens at 5 (that is if they do on Mondays) and that would be too late for Hubby to eat. If they don’t have anything, I can get some chicken breasts and do ginger and pineapple chicken or a curry.
