The Friday Reminder and Prompt for #SoCS May 8, 2021

Linda is our hostess for the SoCS prompt each Friday. You can find out more here

Your Friday prompt for Stream of Consciousness Saturday is “to your left.” When you sit down to write your post, look to your left. What is the thing closest to you? Write about the memories that thing induces. Enjoy!

I usually write my post on the Friday and schedule it for Saturday, but I thought I’d do the prompt properly on the day and write away as things came to me.

Most of my blogging posts are done in the lounge, which is at the front of our property so when I look to my left, I see the window and beyond out into the street. On a sunny day, dog walkers and our friends walk by and if looking this way we exchange waves.

The closest thing to me is a cushion. It’s one of four, two each on our settees, and not one of the ones that we put Mum’s tapestries on when we were on the boat (see below).
Next to that is the window sill upon which is a directional lamp. There is one on the opposite side of the room. In the bay window is our dining table which Hubby stripped down and revarnished. I sit at that to make my cards and make the most of the natural light.

When we arrived here in September 2017 we had nothing in the way of furniture. Friends gave us the two recliner chairs, and we found a second hand sofa bed. and standard lamp.
Our home has seen a few changes since, and we look more like this now.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
