I have been spending money again and totally ecstatic about it.
Anyone familiar with my early posts will know how much I hate shopping for shoes or clothes, but today we had a field trip some 35 miles away on impulse and do not regret it.
The trainers I am currently wearing were given to me by my neighbour almost 2 years ago when her husband died as he had only worn them once. I have worn them every day since and they are so comfortable, but beginning ‘to go’ on the inside. Saying that though, there is still a lot of wear in them.
The make is one I would not normally purchase due to price, but when I considered I was paying between £30 and £40 for trainers and replacing them two or three times a year, it was time to re-evaluate my purse.
We found the shopping centre with little problems, especially as we had not programmed in the new GPS, so were following logic by heading for the town centre. A nice big sign showing the names of shops on a multi storey car park, and we were in. Parking was terrifically easy too and everything is on the ground floor.
It’s a long time since we’ve been in a proper indoor shopping centre, and all I can say is WOW! It was huge, and everything was so clean!! It was only 9.30 so not that many people were about which probably helped a good first impression.
We went into an outdoor wear shop but they didn’t stock what I was after. However, when asked, they said another two doors down did, so we trotted off in that direction.
The ladies could not have been more helpful, and although they didn’t have their new stock in yet, they said there may be something on the bargain shelf. One lady went upstairs and came down with exactly what I wanted in the correct size. They were a perfect fit, and had been reduced from £125 to £80 in the sale. She knocked off an extra 20% so I got them for £64! Chuffed or what!!!!!
Next on the list was clothes.
We are not brand loyal, getting the best for our money and have never spent a lot on everyday clothes like joggers and tees. I refuse to pay £15 to £20 for a pair of joggers when I know I can get some for a fiver. Cheap and cheerful yes, but we have been wearing these cheap and cheerful items since buying the boat! So today we purchased 7 pairs of joggers, (4 for Hubby and 3 for me) and 6 tees, total cost, £53. The bin is calling for our old timers.
Our car parking fee was just a pound as we had been in there for less than an hour. Now that’s the kind of clothes shopping I like, quick, efficient, and out!
Back home, lunch has been had, aerial has received its second coat and we are relaxing for the afternoon. Our neighbour is coming in shortly for a cuppa, so we can confirm her dental appointment time as we’ve promised to take her on Saturday.
