This week’s choice to work with is courtesy of Mahdie Farhadkiaei.
He knew it wasn’t allowed, they were just not suited, but her husband was a lot older than she, and she always looked so forlorn in his presence.
He was playing with fire and had to tread carefully.
Her brother-in-law was of equal standing to himself, but he was sly and Jack didn’t trust him as far as he could throw him. Put him side by side with her spouse, and they were a formidable foe.
Stolen kisses had no longer been enough, and they had expressed their love in the fullest sense of the word.
He was summoned to the court on a wet and dreary afternoon.
The King and his brother, stuffing his face with pastries as usual, flanked her. Her eyes were downcast, her cheeks rosy and her hands clasped in her lap.
She raised her head and looked him straight in the eye.
His blood ran cold. This was not the face of a lover, but a scheming liar who had used him for her own gain.
‘Off with his head!’ she screeched…………. and he ran.
