Today is Bank Holiday Monday, 3rd May

It is a changeable day, but we have beaten the rain and managed to get the washing dry outside. Hubby has sprayed his aerial black, and sadly it is spitting with rain now. At 18 feet it will be difficult to bring it inside, especially wet, so it is hanging on the line, or should I say, suspended from it.

Hubby has been in the bathroom touching up the paintwork. Our hoover had an argument with the skirting board some time ago so that now has a new coat of paint, as does the door frame. This means that we are finished in there………….. Hurrah!!

The DIY bug has hit, and Hubby now has plans for building in wardrobes. When we moved here, we had nothing, and purchased kitchen larder cupboards and a pan drawer as it was over £200 cheaper to do that than buy wardrobe fitments. They have served us well, but storage here is minimal, so we are making things up as we go along.
Hubby believes he can utilize a lot of the framework for the project, and may well make slatted shelves as he did in the cottage to allow for airflow rather than recycle the solid shelves therein. I cannot share his enthusiasm at the moment, but will help him as his gopher, tea maker, and holder of spirit level. There are a lot of materials to price out first though, but we hope to get change out of £300 for the job.  Watch this space.

Dinner is on, broccoli and cauliflower cheese for him and tomato and mushroom pasta for me. As from today I have a revised target at SW which I can achieve and maintain. That in itself has taken off a lot of the pressure for dieting and depression.

Have a good day everyone. Take care and keep safe.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    Clever hubby 💜💜

  2. Your new wardrobe will turn out great, as evidenced by other DIY projects the two of you have successfully accomplished! Your weight goal/plan sounds very doable and maintainable, and getting rid of some additional stress will help the depression too! Have a great day!

I wish Sparky was as handy… he felt extreme accomplishment when he snaked the drain all by himself. The last time he built shelves they were sturdy but ugly as sin. They are now inside a closet and out of the public eye. I can’t wait to see the finished project!

    • Shelves and Hubby don’t mix, as I remember him falling out of the roof to ‘get out of putting one up’ (the ladder collapsed and it was an A&E job). Said shelf remained in box for three years and ended up at a car boot sale.
