Another month almost over and we are a third of the way through the year.
It’s a sunny day, though showers and cloudy skies were forecast! Mind you, we were watching the radar picture yesterday and there was no rain anywhere, yet it was tipping down outside. Sometimes it makes you wonder if we’re looking at the same coastline.
Anyway, we’ve taken a chance and the washing’s out.
Yesterday was spent getting the brackets on the wall for Hubby’s aerial. This is an 18 foot long (or is it high?) beast, so putting that in place is going to be a game later.
He sorted out the spare bedroom to accommodate his new toy, and we had to order something from Amazon to protect the cable entry into the house.
What a game THAT was! In order to access my account, Amazon sent messages to my mobile phone. That in itself wasn’t a problem, but ‘tapping on the link’ just wasn’t going to happen as my mobile is very old school, just making and receiving texts and calls. So we rang the help line, and the girl on the end tried to help us, but had to talk to her supervisor as she hadn’t heard of this problem before. Luckily the calls are free, even from a mobile.
She suggested she’d call us back but we didn’t hear anything after two hours so went to bed. There was an email in the box this morning saying they had been unable to contact us on the number shown (none) and could we log in to our account on the link ‘given below’.
Yep, text message arrives on my mobile asking me to tap. I felt like running the damn thing under one, so after seven views to get the long winded link (my phone kept screen dumping), we went in via my computer, and got the screen I was expecting. Hopefully that is all now resolved, though we have sent a message saying we hope that I won’t be getting similar messages every time I place an order. And for Hubby’s bits? We opened a completely new account and ordered the £3.99 item with no problem. Geesh!
He’s just nipped up the road to get some cable clips now as the ones he had aren’t big enough.
I intend to sort out my card materials today as I seem to be accumulating stuff, yet not actually buying anything! Putting things away has always been a bit of a jigsaw puzzle, but it’s getting silly!
Lunch today is stew, which is hissing away nicely in the pressure cooker and should last us three days.
So hard to believe it’s the 1st of May tomorrow. It’s Bank Holiday weekend here, so if the weather holds, it is going to get busy!!!
Online stuff makes everything easy until we run into a problem and need to contact them, it can easily turn into a nightmare. It’s hard to believe that it’s end of April, and here we are still in lockdown!
Keep safe Elizabeth.
You got the problem sorted out, and that’s the main thing. I just shake my head at the assumption (by companies like Amazon) that everyone is connected to a cutting-edge mobile phone. That we all scan and click links and do all that fol-der-ol automatically. I take a bit of sour comfort in the knowledge that those young people making the assumptions will become old people one day and face similar problems. 😉 You have a great and safe weekend!
Thanks Melanie. You too.
I know how that is – I just got a new phone and though they transferred all my apps I was signed out of everything. Had to recertify through 3 different security programs and enter several passwords and security codes just to get into my university email – which is where they were sending the codes! Took a solid hour of fussing. I can so relate to your frustration… What is your husbands new toy?
CB Radio………….. he used to have one years ago and his old set no longer worked, so as it’s a special anniversary for us this year, that was his treat, and the camera was mine.
Oh my goodness Di! You had quite the fiasco with amazon! I am glad its all sorted now. Hope hubby enjoys his new toy!
It seems sorted now, but time will tell when we come to place another order.
My fingers are crossed that it sorted for you now 😎
