Card Making 23rd April

After our morning walk, I got the kit out and decided to experiment with all the paper bag cut outs I’d done last week. I had some ideas going through my head again, but sadly when I tried to put them into practice, it did not go as well as I’d envisioned.

My little paper posies looked exactly what they were, like someone had cut some wavy circles out of paper bags, and actually looked quite dreadful when I tried to arrange them in a group. The double sided tape did show through, but once the backing paper was removed, it wasn’t too bad. However, going by ‘less is more’ I decided to just use one at a time and see what happened.
I did the same with the butterflies and these were the results.
I had some pale blue fabric butterflies which looked quite nice resting on their paper counterparts, and the one top right has Just For You underneath.
I’d also cut out some birds from the stencil I’d already experimented with and put these together below. They too have some paper flowers in the design, though I added some bought trimmings as well.

You may also recall I was sent a thank you card and decided to recycle the butterflies, which I did today on a 7 x 7 card, the largest I have. I added some ribbon and I think this is my favourite one today.
For ages now I’ve had an idea that I hadn’t begun to explore yet, and nearly didn’t today either, but as I had everything out, I thought I’d give it a go.Β  This one is completely made from scratch, including the coloured card itself.
It’s definitely different, and I think I can have some fun with this type of abstract design.
It’s been a good session today, and I’ve got a nice selection of Hello cards again.

We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. I think the paper bag butterflies came out beautifully! The recycled ones are very colorful and vibrant but the pastel colors of the first ones look so gentle and happy… The bold abstract reminds me of a card announcing a big event – like a birthday or a retirement!

    • Thanks Val. The blue fabric butterflies look very good on top of them as they act like a shadow. I have quite a lot cut out so will try and use them up, but the flowers didn’t really work.

I think they’re a good start. I wonder if you can layer the bag-flowers in a way that would work? Keep experimenting! It looks fun.
