Today is Friday 16th April

After a sunny start, April showers came knocking on the door for an hour at 8.30 this morning. Nothing too drastic, just enough to wet the ground and save us having to water the garden. The sun’s out now, and Hubby is putting together a makeshift soil sieve. Together we cleaned the windows inside and out, and it is nice to see a streak free frontage.
We are expecting our new Satnav to arrive today (wouldn’t it be funny if the driver got lost) and have had a notification to expect it between 11 am and 1 pm. We’d had the other one for five years and had noticed it was playing up some time ago. Hubby checked the battery which looked a little pregnant so we treated ourselves to a new one.
I love the above, but since the menopause, don’t suffer with PMS anymore, just severe mood swings!

The new microwave looks rather swish in the kitchen, probably because it’s a black one rather than white as we normally have. (If anyone has an issue with that statement, you are a very sad individual LOL!)  We put the old one and our knackered printer out for the scrappy and he collected it yesterday. It’s a great system. You just leave things for disposal on your drive and he comes along twice a week or so and takes it away!

Lunch today is day two of our stew. I had sufficient parsnips and swede left over to freeze down for the next one so are all set there without having to face the masses in the local supermarket to shop. We are sticking to our plan of stews for three days then something else for two or three days, then back to stew. Hubby’s weight is more fragile than mine and he has no leeway. If he goes over a certain weight, even by just a pound, it plays hell with his knees and legs, so has to be monitored daily.  Mine goes up and down like a yoyo, but with SW I have a three pound window either side of my target. I’m still hovering at the excess end but staying in target, which is hard work.

We are spotting the holidaymakers from new dogs and me saying, to the dog of course
‘Hello sweetie! You on yer ‘olidays?’
So far I’ve had five yesses…….. out of five.

Have a good day everyone. Take care and keep safe.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Sounds like you’ve had a busy day already. Mine’s just getting started on my side of the Atlantic. And it’s cold and raining here. Been like that for a week 😪

  2. Yes I spot the visitors by there dogs as well.

Who is Scrappy – is it a rag and bone man? Someone I don’t see these days.

    • Our scrappy is an independent who does the rounds locally collecting old washing machines and fridges (he can’t take freezers though) microwaves, cookers and other scrap metal that would otherwise have to be done on a tip run, which we now have to book in advance. It’s a very handy service and he comes down our road twice a week.

  4. You guys want to come to wash my windows? I’d feed you and all…carefully of course! 😉 I wish they had a ‘scrappy’ around here, they have what is coyly called “Spring Cleanup” where you can put out items like you mention and the City takes them away to the dump. It’s only once a year though, and the pickup never seems to make it to my area. What a joy for you to see the doggies out and about!

    • I can do it all sparkly by proxy!!! Our scrappy guy is really useful and reliable.
Kela came over and said Hi this morning. She’s eyeing up the yard and getting ready for her holiday, whenever that is. Our neighbour still hasn’t got a date for her op.
