Today is Sunday 11th April

Hello, and it is a very sunny Sunday, though a bit chilly. We’ve been for our first walk of the day and got caught in an icy shower. That rain was freezing, but luckily didn’t come to much so we didn’t get that wet.
We avoided the one end of the lake as there was a large group of people feeding the ducks. Still no sign, or sound, of Geraldine, though we did see a similar duck on our travels yesterday, so maybe she was only visiting here afterall. To be honest, there are not that many ducks here just now, and where they’ve cut back a lot of the shrubbery on the island, we can only see a few geese on nests. The council have probably raided the eggs again to keep numbers down.

Other than that and two people walking on the opposite side of the lake when we entered the park, we haven’t seen anyone. Well, not including our furry lodger to be who ambled up the drive to say hello.  Our friend still hasn’t been given a date for her op yet, but we are all ready when the time comes and I’ve asked for a list of dos and don’ts as regards food and treats. We’ve already made a space for her bed in the bedroom so no problems there.

It is really weird looking outside as there is a mist blowing down the road, except it’s not mist, but steam coming off the tarmac surface which is being blown by the cold wind. There has been another couple of showers since we’ve been back, so we are glad to be home with cups of tea and biscuits. Dietwise it has been a bad week and I will have to go some to get back in target. Those chocolate hobnobs were nice though and I won’t mention the custard slice (s).

Keep safe everyone, and have an enjoyable day, whatever your plans.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. You keep a very watchful eye on your intake and calories, so you’ll bounce right back in no time. Stress can add to additional weight gain too, even if one is very careful. I’m sorry to hear about Geraldine, she was a beautiful and very unusual duck. Que sera, que sera though right? Have a great day Di!

    • Thanks Melanie. I’ve not been as vigilant this week, but hopefully I can pull it back for weigh in next week. There are very few ducks in the park, so maybe a lot have ‘migrated’ to ponds elsewhere.
