Today is Saturday 10th April

Hello and good morning!

Our weather is on a yoyo and it is beautifully sunny here today. I haven’t stuck my nose out of the door yet so don’t know if it’s warm or chilly though. The washing is on anyway and once out on the line, we are off on another field trip. My word, we are pushing the boat out!
As we could not get what we wanted locally the other day, we are going back to the larger town and hopefully will be able to get in the car park this time.

The headlines are full of the loss of Prince Philip, The Duke of Edinburgh, the title of which will now be passed to Prince Charles. However, when our Queen passes away, this will be passed to Prince Edward as had already been agreed according to what I read yesterday.
The Queen and The Duke had been married for 73 years, the longest ever royal marriage, and at 99 he was the oldest male royal. The Queen Mother was 101 when she passed away in 2002.
It is the end of an era and my thoughts are with the Royal Family at this sad time.

Keep safe everyone

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Aw! How sad that news is for your country Di! The end of an era is never easy to accept. My condolences to you, because I’m sure the news is shocking! Have a great day!

    • Thanks Melanie. The Duke has not been well for many months, but it is still a terrible loss for The Queen and royal family. I just hope the funeral isn’t turned into a circus because of a certain party/parties.

  2. Good luck in finding what you are looking for on your trip.

We had been looking at the tabloids at the grocery checkout just the day before and Prince Phillip was on the cover. My husband wondered how old he was and I didn’t know… Sad that he has passed but I feel more sorrow for the Queen. She has lived nearly her whole life with him at her side… I too hope there is no drama or spectacle at the funeral due to the presence of that certain party.

    • It is a very sad state of affairs and The Duke will be greatly missed. We have one half of the party due to attend, but I wish they wouldn’t. Just a personal thing but I have no time for either of them.
