I have never been what one would term ‘artistic’. Ideas that form in my head rarely turn out as I envisaged, but that doesn’t mean I’m not prepared to have a go.
Reasons for not being able to source the usual trimmings for my cards could simply be a lack of the wholesaler getting his own supply, but there are no gaps in the shelves to suggest things are available, just not in stock, so I have been thinking outside the box.
I bought some colouring pencils the other day for £1 and one of my ideas was to colour in the cut out butterflies on some cards I purchased a little while ago. Surprisingly, these too are no longer on the shelf, so I was glad I bought two packs as there are only 4 in each. I still have the lattice template Hubby did for me, and have had some success with that here:
This is what I did with the butterflies today.
Still a WIP obviously, but it’s a start.
The stencils were a little different and the two smaller cards are textured so the effect was quite pleasing. The bird was OK and I added a flower at the bottom, but again all three are still a WIP because it was an idea I was playing with, not actual card making.
These four cards took me over two hours, and colouring made my hands ache, so I won’t be doing a lot at any one time. The idea seems to work though. One thing’s for sure, whatever I do is going to be more time consuming.
Should I be thinking about December already?
Had a set of stencils when grands were little. They are fun

I’m learning!
I agree about the hand aching and my right thumb does most of the time. It’s a shame because now I have the time to do these things.
I know what you mean. I used to make twelve to fifteen cards at a session but now it’s pushing it to do 6.
I find it strange that products are in short supply when there are so many people needing jobs
I think you are artistic! These are beautiful. You should be very proud.
Thanks Pam.
I agree. These are lovely!
Thank you
They are lovely, Di
thank you!
You’re welcome my friend
I enjoy seeing your artistic endeavors. It is fun to play with things when there is time for it. My hands usually tire before my brain does.
I’ve got the same problem Lauren!
Your stencils are lovely! I especially like the butterflies! I’d say you are pretty darned talented!!
The butterflies were already cut out on the cards when I bought them, but I thought if I coloured them in, it added another dimension to whatever I add on the top. Hoping to play with other ideas today.
