Michael’s prompt this week is to write our response to the phrase,
“The End of the Road.”
Do you see what I see?
Stretched before you into the unknown,
We walk blindly on,
Looking neither left nor right.
Do you want what I want?
Shared dreams and ambitions,
A partnership and someone on whom to depend,
Not a fight to retain one’s identity.
Do you hear what I hear?
Excited chatter that becomes elusive,
Until we are left with silence
And solitude not of our own making.
Do you feel what I feel?
Lost, alone and afraid,
No comfort, warmth or companionship,
A dark void of deserted emptiness.
Did you see it coming?
Did it answer your needs?
Did you listen to your heart?
Did you feel a sense of loss?
You cannot turn back,
For the end of this road is nigh,
But there is always another
To travel and explore.
