Time for Change: Tale Weaver 25th March

Michael is our host for the Tale Weaver challenge, but is sadly hanging up his hat and passing it on.

I am not a fan of change.
WP is the classic example of fixing something that ain’t broke and now we all have a new learning curve as we try to find our way round hidden menus and what would appear typos that can’t be corrected. If you made an error in your post title, you could correct it and it would automatically be transferred to the url link to your post. Apparently you can correct your title, but it doesn’t change in the link (sigh).

Ho hum.
Change is afoot but once again we will adapt and overcome.

Good luck to Michael in his endeavours though. I shall miss him, but hope whoever takes the Tale Weaver over will do as good a job as Michael did.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I’m not crazy about change either…generally have to be dragged kicking and screaming into it. The WP changes started last year, so I’m wondering–did they only just get around to changing your blog recently?? Anyhow, my story is that, at first I was just going to not blog anymore–I was very frustrated by the “learning curve”. So I quit–for awhile, let it go, did other interesting things. And then one night I missed blogging enough that I sat down and had another go at learning how to click on the Classic symbol–and Boom, I was back in the game!!! So maybe you only need a break. Also, most of the WP Support people are willing to help–I recommend asking, and someone will likely give you a link that explains what you need to do. I can tell you that once you learn just a couple new things, your confidence and spirits will LIFT…and if you’re at all like me, you’ll be asking yourself, “what was I making all that fuss about–this isn’t difficult”. Very Best to YOU!! 🙂 ❤

    • No, it’s been going on for a while, but we found ways round it to keep the classic editor, and that option has now gone. The classic block is similar, but not as straightforward.
It’s a bind not being able to hilight and move bands of texts (has to be cut and paste now) and tags are three screens away rather than immediately visible when you start a new post. It is a learning curve again, and we’ll get used to it, but it wasn’t broke, so why did they feel the need to fix it? I only have one appliance, my laptop, so not interested in linking all my devices (which I haven’t got) which is what everyone is channeling people towards. Ho hum. I’ll get there. Thanks for commenting.

Oh gosh, that’s another thing we have in common–I don’t link devices, I keep “devices” to a bare minimum! I use a laptop too. And I totally agree that most changes aren’t an improvement–they seem to be “change for change sake”, as though someone’s just bored, so let’s mess up everybody’s routine, hah! A couple nights ago I noticed that WP had decided to change the media part (adding images or YouTube videos to posts) of their “format”–I was like, “are you kidding me?!!” I don’t know–it’s been an exhausting week, and I’m not getting younger, so my blogging is not nearly as productive/prolific as it was a couple years ago. Eventually I’ll take a final bow 🙂 Hang in there!💖

Sadly as soon as you get comfortable with something our elders and betters(NOT) change it! 💜💜💜
