The day has started sunny, though a few grey clouds are playing chase me out to sea.
We can’t actually see the water from here, but can certainly hear it at times, even with all the windows closed!
With the housework done and breakfast had, our plans are simple…………… not much.
We went through our seed packets yesterday, throwing out the open ones (Hubby had a seed shower and wasn’t impressed) and checking dates. We have tomato seeds and bean pods, and will get an onion set of 50 or so for around a £1 when we next go to town. We found cabbages and cauliflower plus swede, parsnips and carrots, so can hopefully grow our own stew. We’ll start them off in due course indoors to give them a chance to establish.
With the success of the corned beef hash yesterday, Hubby can have what’s left of the meat and potatoes today. I’ll have a jacket potato with some cottage cheese that has to be used or I might go for some mixed veg instead to go with it. Either way, we won’t starve and there should be no repercussions.
It’s my Dad’s birthday today, so we shall be lighting a candle for him when we get back from our walk. This year marks 25 years of his passing.
Hope your day has started well and all is well with you. Keep safe and take care everyone.
With the jump in daylight savings time it is just getting light out here. We bought seeds and are preparing “the plan”. Sparky and I did a little survey of the raised beds and lo and behold, the kale is still alive and putting out new leaves and the same for the arugula that he didn’t turn under this last fall… He has to decide on planting fresh or harvesting what is already growing. Our big plans are a visit to the eye doctor for our exams. I have to remember to wear a black mask or a disposable so if I cry yellow tears it doesn’t ruin anything!
Our onions will be in a raised bed and we had a good crop last year. Good luck with the eye doctor and I hope he doesn’t make you cry!
I love spring preparations. Warm thoughts on your father’s birthday.
Thanks Maggie. His candle is burning brightly.
