Today is Friday, 12th March

We are taking our neighbour to the dentist today. Her appointment was originally in August, then postponed until October, then January. This was then postponed again until
March, and she asked them if they were taking on NHS patients as we were looking for a dentist more local than 35 miles away. They said they were, so she gave us the number and we made a phone call. It took a couple of days to get through, but we did and made an appointment for the following week. This was really weird as our neighbour was a new patient and hadn’t been through the door yet and her appointments were rescheduled whereas we were seen more or less immediately. Even then, Hubby had to have a filling and this was done a couple of days later.
They have amended her appointment again by bringing it forward half an hour, but we’d left the day free so there was no problem for us. We can incorporate a trip to the bank and also the chemist to stock up with garlic capsules and Vitamin D as they had no stock last time we were there. I also hear the calling of meringue nests which are only available (at a sensible price) in one place.
The window man eventually came yesterday, but not before I’d made some phone calls chasing him as we saw him drive past, but not stop.
He had us down for Saturday, and I told him I had an email saying Thursday. He was really busy and said he’d come today, but I explained we had to go out, and he wouldn’t be able to access the drive as we lock the gates. He offered Monday and I said no, as we’d stayed in all day for him so he agreed to come within the hour.
I wasn’t too happy to be honest and it was the first time they’d let us down. Anyway, he came as promised, and it took five minutes to measure up. Hubby saw his work sheet and it was three pages long, so no wonder he was chasing his tail!
The good news is only the blown part of the window needs to be replaced as they can match the glass and it will set us back just £60. Very doable!!!

We had the water bill too which was paid immediately, and was £10 under budget, so another winner. It was a good day yesterday, so hopefully today will be as productive.

Hope your day has started well. Take care and keep safe everyone.

We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Hope yesterday’s good luck carried on into today . Hope the trip to shops and dentist went well. I hope you all had tea and cake 💜💜

  2. I’m glad you can be helpful for your neighbor! That’s gotta feel great, as all this isolation has taken a toll on those who like being kind to others when they can. Good for you! ❤ I was pleased to read your water bill news and thought of this when I read it. Last November (just before the holiday) I got a whopping great bill from the gas company here. I've been on a budget with them for years and I was quite disgruntled and called to complain as I don't miss payments and haven't for that same amount of years. One is late three times and they'll yank one off the budget. Anyway, the clerk I talked to said they do a review a few times a year and they decided that I wasn't paying enough on my budget, so they upped it. No rhyme or reason either just arbitrarily picked a number 'based on my neighbor's usage". O_o I groused about it and said their timing was lousy because I was on a fixed income and it was Christmas time (coming up) and so forth, but no joy. I paid it and have been unhappy about it, but now? They dropped my bill down to the old price again. I had told the clerk I'd been at that same price for over five years and my usage hadn't changed, I didn't have old appliances (which use more gas apparently), and so forth. I'm glad your water board is more sensible than the twits who do our utilities over here. I think they hire based on how stupid the worker is….

    • Seems our new energy company send bills out monthly, not quarterly, so as they have confirmed our monthly payment, come next month we still won’t have cleared the bill, so I am now worried they will start taking whatever the bill amount is which will throw my budget down the toilet. Another question asked, sigh
