Today is Saturday 27th February

Today is the penultimate day of February, and it is glorious again!
The washing has been done and put outside on the line to dry. There is nothing like breeze dried linens, and it was something we dearly missed on the boat.

We walked up into town, keeping to the main road rather than walking through the park as we anticipated it being busy because people still come here for day trips.
The streets were therefore quiet, but the supermarket was a hive of activity. A lot of people were just chinning in the aisles, but at least masks are being enforced before you can enter the shops. I can’t wait to get my jab next week, even though we shall continue wearing our masks for months to come.

We got another stew pack as Hubby was able to digest that with no problems, and I made some flapjacks today too. I haven’t made any since school, and checked out a recipe on the internet. I didn’t have the quantities quoted, so guessed it with what I did have as I had to use up some margarine. They haven’t turned out too badly. Nothing like shop bought of course, but I did melt the final bar of chocolate over half of it when it came out of the oven.
On a scale of 1 to 10, I’d give my efforts a good 6.

Not much else on the agenda today. I can hear lawn mowers outside so neighbours are taking advantage of the good weather and the fact that the past few days have dried out the grass! Uh-oh…. Hubby is up and going to do the same.

Going to settle down at my blog now and respond to the 69 comments I’ve got in!
Have a good day everyone.
Take care, and keep safe.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Oh! Love the sound of your flapjacks 💜💜

  3. Mmmm Flapjacks! With chocolate drizzle! Delicious!! I’ve been on a French toast kick lately and got some great bread to make it with, that’s for brekkie tomorrow I think! I made a vegetable lasagna (with a tiny bit of sausage as a sop to the doggie) for dinner yesterday and it didn’t turn out too bad, but was a wee bit overcooked. It was still pretty yummy, but I have loads of leftovers and so will have to cut it up and freeze some of it for another time.

The sun came out today but the air is still cold. The snow is melting but then the water freezes after sundown and we have icy patches on the roads… You must have an earlier spring there!

    • It’s been beautiful these past few days, but today has started a bit dodgy. saying that, the sun is battling its way through cloud and the fog is beginning to disperse.

  5. Happy you had a good day to the grocery. Nice weather here and people are out. I see less masks outdoors but most are complying with the indoor rules.
