“The trouble with you is that you have no individuality or spontaneity. You bury your head in the clouds and follow wherever others will lead.”
Mavis turned her back on him and looked out across the water.
Roger continued walking away……. towards the others who were equally as dull as he was.
Look at them, she thought.
Dressed the same, all clones without a unique thought between them.
May as well wear boxes on their heads.
Then she laughed.
It echoed off the rock face and shattered the silence.
She kicked off her shoes, stripped down to her underwear and charged into the water regardless of the cold, shrieking in shock mingled with glee. It was great to be alive!!

This is wonderful take on this prompt
Thanks!
🙏
Great one!
Thanks Sara
Love it, a great little story using the prompt well. I’ve run into the sea in winter, that’s shock to the system!!
They usually have a Jan 1st fundraiser dip here for the RNLI, but with Covid it didn’t happen this year. Last time I went swimming was in a heated pool in NZ in 2010.
What a fun idea. I always put something in RNLI and Air Ambulance tins if I see them. They’re heroes and should be paid like regular paramedics are I say.
Loved it!
Thank you!
A free spirit in the midst of conformity!! She’s too good for Roger!!
thanks!
