The creative goal for all of us is “what does the picture evoke in you; what emotion; feeling; memory or whatever it may be – what does it arouse in you and to share it that with others.“

My Mum loved deer, so when she came to stay for a holiday shortly after we moved to Lincolnshire, I drove past a large estate where there were hundreds of them grazing in the grounds. Sadly they were too far away for Mum to see, but it brings to mind an occasion before we moved away when we took her on an outing to a local gardens attraction where they had just introduced some sika deer.
We found the enclosure with no difficulty and she and I sat quietly on the benches provided whilst Hubby stood by the gate and waited. He has a lot of patience for wildlife and it wasn’t long before a small deer came out from the undergrowth. Its curiosity gradually got the better of it as it edged closer to where he was standing. My Mum was holding her breath with the excitement of a young child as she realised that he was going to be within touching distance of it. Animal and Man were separated by only a foot or so, but the moment was ruined by 2 women, totally oblivious to the magic taking place, walked into the enclosure from the other side. They slammed the gate shut behind them as they carried on with their loud conversation, and like the deer, the moment was gone. But, Mum was smiling as she’d got a close look at one, and that was what was most important.
It must be a memorable moment
It was a lovely moment, though we were both so angry at those women spoiling it for Mum. We took her to a butterfly farm once too, and she was in total awe at the size of some of them….. and they weren’t specimens pinned to the wall, but flying freely in netted enclosures.
Happy memories Sadje. I can’t believe it’s three years since she passed away.
I can imagine that. The link with our loved ones never breaks. It is just put on hold.
aww! I am so glad your mum got to see a deer up close! That’s lovely!
Me too.
So nice that you were able to take her there. I love the “close encounters” that can happen at “petting” zoos. Too bad it was spoiled but still a thrill!
She loved it.
Why are people so uncaring of the sensitivity of animals…
It totally defeats me.💜💜💜
These women probably didn’t even see the deer.
No and had no idea… Pun intended 💜
hehe!!
