Taking the Plunge

Hubby and I met through an ad in the local paper.
Both of us were coming out of bitter relationships and wanted nothing to do with the lovely dovey crap and rose tinted glasses. We just wanted friendship, and that was how it started.

My SIL said once to keep him as a friend and go out and find myself  ‘a man’, thinking more along the lines of boyfriend. No sir. I’d had enough of that.
Anyway, some time later they had some friends round and Hubby (to be) was introduced to them as ‘Di’s Man’. He stood in the doorway and clapped his hands saying ‘Oh goody! I’ve been promoted to a man!’
We all saw the funny side and I’ve never held it against her.
Maybe that was enough for us to take the plunge and get married. It was a cool move and we celebrate our Pearl wedding anniversary in May.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Oddly enough that’s how I met my husband – I had placed a personals ad in the Village Voice. Our 30th anniversary was last year…

A man – a man with a sense of humor too!

  4. Thanks for sharing. I met my husband-to-be at work. He thought I was abrasive! We’ve been married now 31 years in April. Go figure.
