As a rule, I’m not one to give up, though circumstances in recent years have had me shelving or postponing diet plans.
Not knowing what to get me for my birthday in 2019, and knowing how depressed I was getting about my weight, Hubby treated me to a 12 week countdown package at the local SW group. My goal was to reach target in those 12 weeks, which I actually did in July. HURRAH!!
OK, Dick tried to rain on my parade in September, but he soon bit the dust and I am good.
As I managed to stay within target for a year, another certificate came my way last August and I felt really proud of my efforts.
Oh, but it is hard.
Even though I can have an extra A or B option every day, plus an extra 15 syns two or three times a week, keeping to plan is a challenge.
A lot of the target members in group mentioned this at one of the meetings before they were all suspended because of Covid, saying it was harder to maintain their weight than losing it in the first place, and I can identify with that.
I restarted my food diary on January 1st, determined to get back into good habits, experiment with new recipes, and allow myself the occasional treat and extras.
I’m doing OK, but it’s a struggle, and the lockdown is finally getting to me.
Before it was nothing to go up the road to the shops for fresh fruit and veg, but now we have to plan in advance and the fruit available at the moment is, well, terrible. I would buy fresh raspberries and blueberries to have on my breakfast or with yogurt for dessert at least twice a week, then prices went up and the quality went down, so I resorted to frozen fruit instead. The last bag I bought was all chips and crumbs, but made a decent drink!
Boredom plays a big part, and trying to work in what suits Hubby with what I can have sometimes has me using all the pots/pans I possess, four cooker rings and the microwave.
I try to plan meals the day before, determining whether something has to be taken out of the freezer, but lately whatever was intended no longer appeals and I have to think again.
Hubby didn’t fancy his pasty today, so had savoury rice and ham instead. I still had my sausage pasta, and it was nice, but I forgot the garlic!! Tomorrow we may be having jacket potatoes with ham and mushrooms in a cheese sauce.Β No freezer requirements, microwave for the potatoes, and one pan.
Weigh in tomorrow. Wish me luck!!
It is tough, but you have been doing a commendable jobπ
I’m sticking with it though. I’ve come too far not to.
It is very difficult, and I am wishing you well in the weigh in tomorrow. Sending hugs. π
Thanks Willow. I’m trying to ignore the call of the cupboard and fridge.
Ear plugs πππ
ha!! Maybe I should swallow them to stop my stomach rumbling!! You OK today?
Lol, we call this Labrador syndrome…..always hungry…hubby has it…. So does Ruby of course ππ₯ππ
I like that!!!
Lol it’s true, a Labour will eat until it’s sick then eat again! always hungry…..I shall say no more ππ
I know they are easy to train because they’ll do anything for food. They just don’t register a ‘full’ setting.
That’s right ππ
How was the weigh in π
half a pound on π¦
never mind, more effort this week!!! You OK today?
I am thank , remember half a pound on is better than a pound on so very well done πππ
Half a pound is only eight ounces, and a visit to the loo could resolve that haha!!
Yes indeed πππ
You are so right!!! Good luck!
All the best my friend. Iβm in the same boat. This stomach bug has spoiled all my plans. The bland diet is mostly carbs.
Small gain this week as expected. Onward!!! Hope you’re feeling better now.
Thanks Di! I am but the weight is climbing again.
You’ll soon get back into the swing of things. It takes a while when you’ve been poorly.
I hope so. Thanks for the encouragement
its very hard! I find it a challenge to even lose continuously. I am doing all I can to motivate myself to keep exercising and eating all the right foods!
