It’s wet again today and the wind is beginning to pick up, so it’s going to get cold.
It’s The Big Day in the USA, and I sincerely hope that everything goes off OK. I am extremely apprehensive though as DT is not the kind to ‘go quietly’.
We had an early night last night and managed to catch up on some sleep. Luckily there is no shopping to do or the need to go out today, though we will try to get a couple of walks in should we get a dry window in the weather.
I’ve read the meters and everything is as it should be. We had our energy bill over the weekend and are well on course for our annual budget. We are on a fixed tariff until September, though I shall be shopping around and checking out alternatives beforehand.
There is a penalty of £30 per supply should we change before the end of the contract, so as we are on dual fuel with both gas and electricity being supplied by the same provider, there’s no way I’m going to do that!
I’m doing chicken curry today, so the sultanas are soaking to plump up. I’ve always put them in and never had any complaints, but a few years ago when we were staying with MOH, he asked me not to add them as he couldn’t stand them. This was a total surprise when I thought of all the curries I’d made over the years of our friendship and he’d never said a word. Neither had he left any on his plate.
I might write a few letter cards today as our post seems to be back on course. Our postie still doesn’t look well and has aged at least 10 years since having Covid at the end of last year. We haven’t seen our lassie postie for a while though so hope she’s OK.
Have a good day everyone and keep safe.
Do you ever hear from MOH?
We sent and had a Christmas card. He’s doing OK, waiting for his Covid jab as he’s over 70 and in one of the vulnerable groups. Buddy is still going strong, and he was sorry to hear about Maggie.
Glad there is still a connection. You were friends for a long time.
Thirty years, and if the attitude had been different, so would the outcome have been. At the time though, he seemed to be alienating all his friends, even his school friend from the 60s.
Perhaps something was going on with him mentally.
We don’t know Kate. We used to enjoy a game of crib or scrabble, but his increasing competitiveness spoilt it, and on one occasion he accused us of cheating with secret hand signals……….. over a game of cribbage!
🙂
Oh wow didn’t realise your postie had covid! Poor man! I never had sultanas in a curry, apples, yes, but never sultanas! xo
We saw him on his round yesterday and he still doesn’t look well.
I put apples in my curry sometimes, but not very often. I soak the sultanas in boiling water for about 2 hours with the curry spice, grated garlic and stock cube. Then add the lot to the meat when it’s cooked and bring it up to heat. The sultanas are then plump and juicy.
