Post dental

It’s been a good day.
Our new dentist is Romanian and very nice. She was impressed with Hubby’s temporary fix for his chipped tooth and will be doing a proper filling and another one on Thursday.
Lucky me got away with no treatment, just a recommendation of more flossing and an antiseptic mouthwash to protect my gums. The hunt is now on for flossing string as it seems everywhere is selling those little things that look like mini saws, and I can’t get on with them.
We were in and out of the bank in five minutes, and are still solvent, then went shopping. It wasn’t too bad as masks are now compulsory, though social distancing in supermarkets needs to be worked on. We got everything we wanted including the few things for our neighbour, then came home.

We pulled up on our drive just before 1pm and the double glazing guy pulled in behind us.
He explained that he was running ahead of time and had already measured up our window. Everything was fine, yes it was covered by their guarantee and would be replaced in about two weeks.

Lunch was not the jacket (baked) potato I’d intended, but a fresh baguette with bacon, though I had mushrooms with mine. I’ll do the potatoes tomorrow with what’s left of the bacon pack, add mushrooms, peppers and some chicken breast, and have a variety of veg on the side.

All in all I’m feeling really good about things at the moment. We’ve had one walk so far, and will have another later (we did have one round town this morning, so I guess that would also count).
Yeah, it’s been a good day.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. A friend and I who have been walking together each week since August at different country and state parks and trails around here me at a county park overlooking the Wisconsin River valley. The sun was out, it was 32F with about a foot of snow on the ground, but the trails were just a 2-3 inches deep. We walked for an hour then pulled our chairs out of the backs of our vans and had a hot drink and a couple of ginger cookies while looking out over the river valley and chatting a bit more. You have to make your own fun these days. How was your weigh in? I did WW for years and I know about weigh-in days. P.S. Haven’t been to the dentist in a year now–waiting for that shot in the arm since I don’t have any obvious problems.

    • Hubby and I make our own fun and find a lot of enjoyment in feeding the ducks or just watching them. We have our walks along the beach too, so are pretty lucky.
WW didn’t work for me in the 90s, but I joined Slimming World in 2016 and that has, so I’m sticking with it. Weigh in was no change from last week, though when I got on the scales yesterday, I’d lost half a pound! Hope it stays off for next week!!!
This was my first dental check up for a year.

      • I’ve never heard of slimming world. WW worked for me in the 90s. I like old program. You have to do what works for you and your body. I’m sure you’re going to see some more weight come off next week. I used to lose nothing one week and then a three pounds the next week. Everyone’s body loses weight at a different rate. You’re inspiring me!

      • Thanks Begonia. Slimming World is really big over here, and a worthy competitor for WW.
I’m hoping for a loss this week, however small!

I was at the dentist today, too. I had my teeth cleaned and the dentist found a cavity under a crown, so the crown’s got to come off, we need to deal with the decay, then I get a new crown. That’s a minimum. If the tooth next to it (which is also crowned) needs attention, he has to do it twice…

    • I have a crown which is about 35 years old and that together with the tooth next to it is ‘on watch’. The tooth beneath is pegged, so if there’s a problem, I’ll have them take it out. If we want a descale and polish it’s no longer part of the initial check up process, and has to be done privately. I can’t afford that as it’s about £50. The hygienist I saw years ago (at a cost of £43 then) made my gums bleed a lot and set my teeth on edge to such an extent that everything was hypersensitive for about three days.
