Elvis Presley’s birthday I believe, and also the 53rd birthday of my first foster girl.
The day is foggy and chilled, but not actually cold as we had a very pleasant walk along the prom, down to the clubhouse and back along the road. There were a few people about, but not so many that we had a problem social distancing. We wear our yellows from the boat as they keep out the wind as well as the rain. Apparently Hubby heard someone comment to their companion in the supermarket about how silly it was us wearing them when it wasn’t raining. Little do they realise that we have nothing else suitable for winter outdoor wear. Not everyone has coats coming out of their armpits or overflowing wardrobes. We have the minimum, as it’s all we can afford. But we’re warm, and more importantly dry when it matters, so they can think what they like.
It has a plus side too in that perhaps people think we are ‘authority’ and thus give us a wide berth.
Three cheers for email……… Hubby has had 2 calls from the doctor’s surgery and an email following the one he sent last night after his visit to the UTC 17 miles away. He spoke to the duty doctor who has arranged a prescription for two items which should help with the current pain in his groin (which could be another kidney stone, something we hadn’t thought of and that Hubby has had before), which he can collect from the pharmacy either after 6pm today or tomorrow morning.
The chili I made today was rather nice, and I added green beans and carrots to my plate. The weight isn’t exactly going down daily, but it’s not going up either, so I’m hopeful for a ‘maintain’ or even small loss on Sunday’s text in.
Hope your day is going well. Off to respond to comments and pingbacks now.
Keep safe everyone.
My weight isn’t exactly going down either, but that is down to my carelessness.
But like you I am maintaining!
Its better than nothing, sometimes the body takes a few weeks to adjust!
It does, and that’s when people give in and reach for the biscuit tin. They think it’s not working when in fact it is but on the inside, so not visible.
Ah I didn’t know it was Elvis’s birthday – but I do know it was David Bowie’s. 😀
And especially nice to remember foster children that you have helped along their way in life. 🙂
I only used to have one coat too (now I don’t have any!) and I really wouldn’t fuss about those idiot comments! You are dry – (and you never know when it might suddenly rain – it is UK after all! 😀 ) – and like you say, look official so hopefully distance kept.
Great to get email scripts too. 🙂
Keep Safe 😀
You too Sci
Thank you 🙂
That is very good news that he doctor responded! I wear what I want and if someone takes issue that is their problem – not mine! Yellow is also highly visible – at dusk and in the rain so that you are not invisible to any motorists… another important benefit!
We always wore them at night, and Maggie had a little yellow jacket too.
