Take Seven January 1st 2021

It’s Friday and the start of a New Year.
Let’s hope 2021 will be better for us all in one way or another.

Here we go then with my Take Seven compilation which incorporates all 21 words (or derivatives) from the Three Things Challenge for the past week.
You are most welcome to join in using as many or all of the words too. Just pingback to this post and then leave a link to your post in the comments so that I can see it and respond directly.
As always, have fun, and I hope you enjoy this week’s effort.

Our words were:
bean, bring, card, celebration, contribution, cook, dip, dish, drop, flat, gain, gave, hall, indulgence, overload, party, positive, purge, recognised, swing, tuck
Christmas always led to over indulgence and in turn stomach overload to such an extent that she swore any future celebration would be given a wide berth.
That was of course before the card dropped through the letter box four days later.
The party was a bring something for the table affair, and a little note on the bottom of the invitation said no presents required. Finances were such now that she didn’t have a bean to spare anyway but she could always cook!
She decided on a simple dish of mushroom pasta with a cheese dip on the side. It wasn’t expensive to make and gave her the chance to use up leftover pieces of different cheeses. Using a handful of grapes as a garnish, she knocked on the door of the flat below.
The party was in full swing, and she placed her contribution on a table already groaning with a variety of food.
She recognised the occupants of the flat immediately across the hall from hers and waved. They beckoned her to join them.
Their host was a big guy with an equally big heart and when all of his guests had arrived he turned the music down and tapped a glass to gain their attention.
‘Thank you all for coming!’ he boomed.
‘Welcome to the Splurge and Purge fest we hold every year. Tuck in friends, exchange recipes and tips for the coming year and enjoy the foods laid out courtesy of our own good selves.’
Dolly loved this get together every year. They were all members of a slimming club, but attended different groups, so this was a chance to get the New Year off to a positive start with everyone in the same boat…………… gains over the holidays to be lost by strict following of the rules thereafter.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
