Today is Monday 28th December

It is mid afternoon and I have just settled down to my blog.
We woke up to whiteness and the heaviest frost so far as the temperature dropped significantly in the night, the heating kicking in three times. The car was white and the pavements slippery, but it was otherwise mild and quite pleasant.
We took our dekkies down today, so everything is neatly put away in boxes and stored in the roof. We had over 50 cards and not one duplication. Of the 25 I posted, we had 12 back, but as we’ve received no letter mail since Dec 8th, there may be a couple in the pipeline. The rest were from neighbours and friends here.

We walked up into town this morning, duly masked and gloved, and it was very quiet.
We were after a hard backed notebook for Hubby and I needed to put some credit on my phone. We made a call the other day and were on hold for a considerable time which nibbled £4 off my already dwindling balance.
We got what we wanted, and I bought a 2021 diary with one day to a page (apart from weekends when Saturday and Sunday have half a page each). This is part of my masterplan to get to grips with my weight control (stop laughing) as I shall use it as a food diary rather than the tatty exercise books I have been using. Looking back over more successful times, a proper diary seems to have been a better tool.
This starts from January 1st, so that’s when I’ll start to record things properly again.

Lunch today was the last of our cold chicken and gammon. I made a ginger and pineapple sauce and we had it with rice. It was really tasty, though a bit too rich for Hubby.

Take care  and keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

  1. Good luck with your diet.

  2. There’s something about a formal proper diary. Good plan
As we walk it does seem so very – oddly- quiet. Like people and the world in general is so exhausted or beaten down even with the mild sunny weather. Strange.
Making a point to get up early and head into the backyard to catch the cardinals and squirrels antics – while not meaning to be performers, they do make me smile.

  3. The weight battle is one I know too well. For some strange reason, wishing it away hasn’t yet worked for me. LOL

  4. First off, mind if I ask what dekkies are?! And secondly, I’m sending you happy thoughts and encouragement during your weight-loss journey. I’m waiting till Jan 2nd myself as we have to polish off all the Xmas goodies, and Jan 1st is my Bday so I’m eating whatever I damn well please haha!

    • Oh, probably decorations lol

    • Good for you Sara! I’ve always had weight issues, but joining SW in 2016 saw me lose almost three stone in six months. If I hadn’t lost the weight, we wouldn’t have found the lump so early and I was lucky to have a lumpectomy and only radiotherapy. The diet went on hold for a while, then we moved, so I signed up again in May 2019, reaching my target in August where I have stayed (apart from this week, oops). Another cancer turned up in the same breast so I had a mastectomy in November 2019. My mammogram this year came back clear. Hurrah!!
I shall be blogging my diet progress as I find it helps keep me on track. Happy birthday for the 1st!
      Decorations is right.

  5. The thing to bear in mind is that you have made excellent progress and as long as you stick to your life changes, a few back slides aren’t going to nix your total effort. That’s my opinion anyway, and I’m a veteran of the diet ‘wars’ with the battle scars to prove it! Now I have to deal with diabetes, the whole eating thing has taken on a new and quite nasty (IMHO) dimension. I still eat the way I found most useful for me back in the diet days. I allow myself (no guilt) to have what I want IN MODERATION. If it’s a really ‘bad’ food, ‘moderation’ means one or two bites, or a small sip or two if it’s a beverage. We all have our own triggers that induce binge eating, and my own is to deny myself. Plus cooking for one is the utter pits. Anyway. I want to congratulate you on your wonderful success to date, and I KNOW you’ll be back on target in short order.

    • Thanks Melanie. It’s my own fault anyway, so up to me to rectify it. I reportedly have type 2 diabetes, but since I’ve lost all the excess weight, that may not be the case now. However, SW allows everything, the bad stuff in moderation so I’m sticking with their food plan. Watch this space as I will be blogging about my journey in the new year.

I use the online app MyFitnessPal which allows me to track calories, foods, exercise, water and even cholesterol and sodium, sugar and fiber, iron and calcium, carbs and fats… not to mention it tracks exercise too!
