Today is Sunday 20th December

Only five big sleeps kids!
OK, I felt that.

The day has dawned bright and sunny, so the washing was put on while we had our showers and is out on the line. Hopefully it will be a lot drier by the time the heat goes out of the day, and we can finish it off indoors. The thought of using the launderette at the weekend fills us with dread.

I am pleased that our neighbour rang the doorbell this morning and came in for some company and a cup (s) of tea. We got out the chocolate biscuits, and she had some of those too. I have been worried as she’d shut herself away and declined our previous offers, this morning’s included, but glad she changed her mind. On leaving two hours later she said she was glad she’d come round. We have invited her in on Christmas afternoon to sample Hubby’s Slivovitz. I hope she comes as her intention was to spend Christmas on her own.
She said she was dreading the umpteen phone calls she’s likely to get from family on Christmas Day as she has been getting tearful on the phone. We suggested she ring those in Australia on Christmas Eve here so that she can send her love and Christmas greeting on her terms. We said she could always say she was spending some time with us on the 25th, which over a tot or two of Slivovitz, she will be!

We have had some wonderful responses about Geraldine both on my blog and Hubby’s.
It appears highly likely that she is a female Buff Orpington duck, so thanks to Jen for the link, but because of the colour of her beak, a hybrid of a hybrid. Thank you all for your interest and input.
Lunch was a bits and bobs jacket (baked) potato which I was so pleased with, I shall do a separate post!

Hope your day has started well.
Keep safe everyone.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Slivovitz! Whooo! I didn’t know anyone else knew about that stuff! I gave some to a coworker many years ago (http://murisopsis.xanga.com/2016/01/06/8459/). That is some powerful stuff!

    • Hubby is very partial to it, but couldn’t find anywhere that stocked it………. or had even heard of it! He ended up ordering on-line, and I’m really pleased he got some.
