Share Your World 12-14-2020

Thanks to Melanie for setting the questions for this week’s Share Your World.

  • What news event do you vividly remember hearing about as a child, and where were you?
Walking on the moon, and we were allowed to stay up and watch it on TV.
  • What is a Christmas song that makes you cringe?
Anything by Paul McCartney, Christmas or not.
  • What is one place you shop(ped prior to Covid) that might have surprised people?
Hamleys toys way back in the ’90s. We got a yard of marshmallow and had an end each as we rode the escalator, and kissed in the middle.
  • What is your least favorite holiday side dish?
Cockles or mussels. Can’t stomach the smell either.

GRATITUDE SECTION (Always optional)

Share something heart warming that’s happened to you lately.
I had a 45 minute conversation with my nine-year-old great niece who told me it was the elves that were naughty while she was at school, and she sent me photos to prove it.
I promised I’d tell Santa that he had to stop at her house on Christmas Eve because she’d been good.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Cockles and mussels are fine, but don’t offer me winkles or whelks. 😛

    I loved going to Hamley’s.

I am with you on number 2
    And number 1 as well.

Aww, cute conversation with your grand niece.

  4. Thanks Di for Sharing Your World! That phone conversation is priceless!! I suspect you’ll treasure the memory for a long time to come, what a lovely bit of Christmassy cheer! I always wondered what cockles were, I know what mussels are, but I’ve never known what a cockle or a winkle were…are they a type of shellfish? The only cockles I’ve ever heard of were the punchlines in bad jokes. 😉 Have a great week coming up! ☺

    • Winkles are small sea snails, and cockles are edible molluscs in a heart shaped shell. They tend to be a bit on the gritty side!
Yes indeed, the photos and conversation will stay with me for quite a while.

I like your answer to the second question.
