Today is Wednesday 25th November

It’s late afternoon now, and we’ve had quite a busy day.
Hubby was woken up by a loud crash at 5.30, and thinking someone was trying to break through our gates, was up to investigate. Sleeping beauty here didn’t hear a thing, but was awake at 5.48 wondering why one side of the bed was vacated.
The coffee table was still in its packaging and hadn’t fallen over to warrant the crash and Hubby couldn’t find out what it was even though he checked everything both outside and in. He couldn’t settle, but his get up time is usually around 6, so he had his breakfast and I rolled over.
It wasn’t too late when I got up though, had a shower and washed my hair, then read the meters as is the norm on a Wednesday.  Everything there is as expected, so I had my own breakfast as we discussed what we were going to do today.

We decided to walk up into town, but knowing it was likely to rain while we were out, we wore our yellow waterproofs. We went into the bakers and cashed in our loyalty card for the biggie……….. a meal deal of sandwich, crisps or sausage roll, and a drink. Hubby bought a gingerbread Santa for our qualifying purchase, so we got a Christmas roll (turkey and stuffing), sausage roll, and a cup of coffee, then walked up to the prom to enjoy it on a bench looking out to sea.
It was quite mild, and we had an audience of thin pathetic looking starlings, so I threw a few crumbs for them. That was it, we were swooped on by the troops and they ended up with half my bread roll and some pastry crumbs from Hubby’s sausage roll. We shared the coffee.
A lady was walking a little westie behind us and had a stroller for him. I asked how old he was, and she said he was 17, almost 18. How wonderful.

As we were walking back, it started to drizzle, then got a little heavier as we met up with a couple who had two pugs. Have you noticed that pugs don’t walk, they sort of do a rocking waddle. Anyway, I got fuss from them and by the time we got home, it was raining quite hard.  Our neighbour was bringing in her bin, so we invited her in for a cuppa, and she stayed until about 12. 30.

Lunch for us today was fish and tatty cake for Hubby and I made a tomato pasta for me. I had to throw three tomatoes away this week as they’d gone all yukky in the fridge. The ones I used today were just going soft, so I would’ve had to toss them too in a day or two.
While I was preparing our meal, Hubby attacked the coffee table. It’s a similar design to the freebie, but bigger, and matches our bookcase and cube display units. It looks nice and adds another bit of personal touch to our home.

Keep safe everyone.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

“…read the meters as is the norm on a Wednesday”…?

    • Sorry John, every Wednesday I read the gas, electricity and water meters. This goes back several years following an argument with the electricity company over an estimated bill. I find it keeps unpleasant surprises at bay as I;m aware of our usage and therefore if we had a problem, could detect it before it became a major issue. Our usage is way below average apparently, as we used 22 Kwh electricity, 12.97 Kwh gas, and 1.27 cu mtrs of water for the week.
