What do you see # 55 – 9 November ’20

( For the visually challenged reader, the image shows a person precariously balanced, standing on a fallen tree trunk hanging over a body of water)

The mountain sides were agleam with diamonds, the reflection in the water made it look like the jaws of a mythical beast protecting the island.
To fell the tree had been a good idea, except it wasn’t tall enough and so didn’t reach to span the distance to cross.
He had one piece of magic left.
The reflection beneath him looked like a hand and closing his eyes, he wished he was airborne, his destination being safely on the shore opposite.
His euphoric cries echoed round the valley.

He landed with a bump and realised he was safely in his bedroom having fallen off the bed. The video game was still playing on his console, the scene almost the same as the one he had just dreamed, except the ‘diamonds’ were rocks and the tree was still upright.
He switched it off. Fantasy could wait. He was hungry and it was suppertime.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Fantastic take on the prompt. I saw the hand, his own reflection, supporting and encouraging him to take a leap.
