First Line Friday: November 6th, 2020

Dylan Hughes is our host for the First Line Friday challenge.
Here are the rules and link to her original post

“It is First Line Friday! Welcome and let’s get writing.

Below, I give you the first line, and you all get to write the rest. This prompt alternates with Jim’s Music Prompts, so make sure to check back next Friday for some musical inspiration.

I’ll provide the first line, you get to write whatever comes afterward. Length, genre, and structure are completely up to you. Feel free to modify the line as you see fit, adding punctuation, quotes, or other bits if so desired. No need to tie it to the picture, unless you want to.

Or for more of a challenge, change nothing. You have a week to write it, enjoy!

Include the first line of course! Tag it Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie, First Line Fridays, and short fiction. Create a link (ping-back) to this post and add your link to Mister Linky below.

Your line for this week is:

The splashing of pink rain boots announced her impending arrival.”

The splashing of pink rain boots announced her impending arrival.
Tommy and Annie, twins deaf at birth,  had developed their own special language years ago by stamping their feet. At first, their parents had thought it was tantrums, but as they watched each child’s reaction to the other, they realised it was a means of communication between them.
Today they were having fun in the rain
, and the bigger the puddle the better. The new Nanny was OK, but they didn’t know how she would react so Tommy issued a warning and they were ready to cease their activities when she came outside.
The sound of three tone hysterical giggling had
their father rushing to the window to see what was going on. Elizabeth, the new nanny, was also wearing pink wellies and jumping in the puddles with them.
Philip knew he’s made the right decision hiring her.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
