The day started sunny, then we had showers and now have part time sunshine.
Hubby had a prescription to fill this morning as he has a throat infection. Luckily he knew exactly what it was and what medication was needed so we were able to arrange that last night at the UTC 17 miles away.
Town is relatively quiet on the streets but shops are busy. I asked our neighbour yesterday if she’d like to join us for Christmas dinner but she said she was rather pleased with herself as she’d bought everything in for Christmas and it was in the freezer. Taking a leaf out of her book (we already have our Christmas puddings as we didn’t have them last year and they have a good shelf life!!), I bought three slices of turkey breast and a bag of sprouts today so we are half way there. I already have stuffing, so will just need to get the pigs in blankets and a bag of pre roasted potatoes. Christmas cake will be a small slab and just a dozen mince pies.
Had a slight pause as we went out to collect a chest of five drawers for the spare bedroom.
There is hardly any storage here and the bedrooms do not have any built in wardrobes. When things improve in the DIY supply line, Hubby hopes to build in a wardrobe in the main bedroom, then we can do away with the makeshift kitchen larder tallboys we purchased as they were all we could afford at the time.
Lunch today is a tinned chicken curry as it has plenty of sauce, and we are trying Hubby on his first portion of rice since surgery. It may be too much but we shall see. Either way he’s looking forward to it and I shall put the rice on the side so that he can leave it if necessary.
Other than that and now putting the drawer unit together, not much on the agenda today.
Hope the start to your week has been a good one.
Keep safe.
When we bought our house we didn’t even notice but our first floor doesn’t even have ONE closet! Nothing. So for the past 13 years the vacuum is always out, coats are all stuffed on coat hooks. I finally bought a half cedar chest for the basement to store some of my fancier clothes. Someday maybe there will be an event to dress up for, but for now I don’t want them getting moths or moisture….I say half cedar because the back panel is only plywood. But it is enclosed and has mostly cedar so it should work fine. Next week I am having a closet built. It will also contain the washer and dryer so they can come out of the bathroom. I want to install a shower stall. All this work and I’m going to put my house on the market! I hope I get it back so I can pay off all my debt!
The only units we have are those in the kitchen, but we put a cabinet up in the bathroom. Luckily we don’t have a lot as we had even less space on the boat so didn’t buy very much. ‘;m going to have a good clear out of underwear, socks and tee shirts for New Year!
That is what I have to do too! I have so many odds and ends that I just keep pushing aside. Many of the things I have are still in good condition so I will be able to donate it.
We don’t have that much and what we do have is wearing out!
Gosh – I can’t think of Christmas! – especially since our temperatures are now soaring! 😦
Storage is often a problem – but looks lie you are well on your way to sorting it all out. 🙂
The dresser is being filled as I type!!! (His stuff, not mine, but he says he’s making space for me.)
Sounds like you’ve got a busy day well planned! It’s annoying not to have storage, but at least you’ve got a good handy man to fix the issue! Pet Ms. Maggie for me and have a great day yourself!
Thanks Melanie. You too.
