Fandango’s provocative question this week is
Do you blog anonymously? Why or why not?
When I started my blog in 2013, I was ‘anonymous’ and didn’t mention any names of my family, friends, Hubby or myself.
Since then, I have acronyms for close friends, family consists of Bro, OB, Sis or a smattering of Nephews or Nieces, Hubby is still Hubby, but almost everyone knows my name is Di now, which is fine by me. There are some readers who prefer to call me Pen, or Pens and I like that too, but as for my surname? No. Not here.
I try to be honest in my blog posts and when voicing opinions. I’m not a business or professional writer, I blog for fun and enjoy the interaction between fellow bloggers, many of which I consider personal friends now, some even extended family.
I read that someone put their personal details on Facebook and were inundated with unwanted messages, callers, and strangers turning up. I don’t want that as I value our privacy, and in the virtual world of blogging, first names are friendly as are nicknames like SWMBO. It’s personal or professional choice if you want to go one step further.
Youโre right it has to be a personal choice.
It sometimes shocks me how carefree some people are with their personal details on social media. The wide world doesnโt need to know more than your family doctor or the inspector of taxes! ๐
Thanks Ian.
I totally agree ๐๐๐
