Dr Tanya also hosts the 5 Things challenge, and today it’s cheese.
She says:
The 5 Things tag keeps surfacing on WordPress. I am not sure who first thought of it but I have always found it fun to do. I thought “Why not make it a weekly feature?”
If you participate in a post of your own please tag it #5things.
Last week we had fun listing our favourite varieties of bread so this time it seems quite natural to move on to 5 kinds of cheese to go with those.
Cheesecake of course and here are five I’ve made, using a cream cheese and fresh cream.
I like a nice mature cheddar and use it in my cooking to make cauliflower or macaroni cheese, or to have on a baked potato. This is just slices served with an apple and some grapes.
I’m not a fan of cottage cheese unless it has fruit in it like apricots or pineapple.
The above is not my image, but it certainly appeals, so I might well try this as it’s cottage cheese with pineapple and a sprinkling of granola. Nice breakfast!
I loved the crumbly texture of Caerphilly cheese and it was a favourite for years, then suddenly it didn’t like me and the smallest piece could trigger migraine. Now I opt for a Wensleydale with apricots or cranberries.
My final choice is my treat to me at Christmas, cheese roule with garlic and herbs. I only get a small pack as Hubby doesn’t like it.
I owned a German Shepherd Dog that did though, having made the mistake of leaving it unattended on the coffee table and she polished off the lot!
Cheese is one of those foods that I love. I was off cheese for a year and it was horrible. I dreamed of cheese! A good aged Swiss is always good. A smoked gouda or smoked cheddar is also a delight. A favorite dish is a salmon/cheese ball made with smoked salmon, cream cheese and a little garlic and dill. I think I’ll make that this week!
sounds good!
I like the cottage cheese we have here, also called paneer. It has a firm structure and creamy mild taste.
I don’t like the plain stuff, though we have a product called Quark which is a good alternative for desserts and that’s found in the cheese section. Some variations have herbs or garlic in it too.
I like the one with pepper and herbs in it.
