Today is Saturday, 17th October

Good morning All.
For a change I am up pretty early, though not exactly with the lark or raring to go, but I am up!

The weather forecast:
cloudy and overcast, but mild and windless.

Plans for the day:
Not a lot. Hubby left his coat at the club last night so he’s going to collect it this morning. Other than poo bags, there was nothing in the pockets, but it will be put away safely for him.

I walked the dog before breakfast and it was OK, though my back is still playing up. I was pain free when I woke up, but as soon as I started moving, I got the twinges. I’ve taken a painkiller and don’t intend to do much today. The heat pad helped, so that’s at hand should I need it. Maggie seems bright eyed and bushy tailed today.

Hubby is having fish fingers and tatty cake for his lunch today, and I’m going to do a jacket (baked) potato for me with cheese and some veg. He is looking forward to round two of the lemon meringue as there was no reaction whatsoever yesterday.

Hope you’ve all had a good start to the weekend.
Keep safe.

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have an elderly dog called Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

Maggie looks gorgeous! Do you make your own curd for the lemon meringue?

Nicking the poo bags really would take the biscuit! Round two of the meringue sounds great…

  4. Good morning the news headlines are depressing. Take care and stay safe.

Glad Maggie is doing good, and hope your back pain will be better soon. Yay for heating pads. I use mine all the time.
Your dessert sounds so good, and it’s been years since I had any of that kind.
Have a lovely rest of the weekend. 🙂

This is good news! Sounds like your back is improving and your husband’s eating is progressing well (lemon meringue pie is a great motivator)! Glad to hear that Maggie is doing well too! It makes life so much easier to deal with when everything at home is as it should be!

    • It was a pretty good day yesterday and today has started off positively too. The back is twinging, but the swelling is going down so the anti-inflammatory painkillers are working. Maggie has performed the business and Hubby has munched on his cookies as well as breakfast, so all is good so far!
