Blogging Insights # 50 Distraction

Dr Tanya is asking

What distracts you from blogging? Apart from family and work (unless yours is a business blog) what factors or forces prevent you from creating content?

Interesting question,
With no family/kids demanding meals, toys, or fighting over the remote, what indeed does distract me!

The Dog.
She has this way of looking at you, just at the edge of your peripheral vision, and you just feel those pleading brown eyes breaking through your consciousness and concentration.

Our lounge is at the front of the house and so when anyone walks by, it can be distracting.

Not that we have many, but sometimes the doorbell goes and that’s the end to blogging for at least a couple of hours. That’s not a bad thing though.

The need to pee
It’s that waking up in the middle of the night moment…… everything is just so, going well and inspiration is in full flow, and you need a potty break. You try to ignore it, but the bladder accompanies the hallelujah chorus of your churning tummy so the moment is lost and you have to go.

Just as you’re trying to get that phrase right in your head or a specific word is on the tip of your tongue (or end of your fingertips as they strike the keypad), someone asks you a question.

One thing that doesn’t distract us though is the television.
We haven’t got one.

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! In November 2020, we lost our beloved Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney. We now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of Kizzy, my GSD when Hubby and I first met so had hers done too. On February 24th 2022 we were blessed to find Maya, a 13 week old GSD pup who has made her own place in our hearts. You can follow our training methods, photos and her growth in my blog posts. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

    😀 At least you’re honest.

  2. I don’t turn the tv on at all. When David gets home he watches the news and sometimes we watch tv but during the day I never do. I was going to get rid of cable TV but then having internet is too expensive, believe it or not. Funny that you say that Maggie stares at you! Brody stares at me all day!!!!

    Yes, these all are distractions.

Awesome answers Di! I dont have too many distractions thank goodness, as I live alone, and for the most part I have a quiet space when I write!
