Fit for purpose?

Fandango’s one word challenge today is FIT.
Loads of ways I can think of for that, from clothes that fit one week and don’t the next, fitting into society or the neighbourhood, or the purchase of something for a specific purpose.

At the moment, Hubby’s clothes are hanging off him, but the way he is polishing off cookies, sausage rolls, ice cream, biscuits and today half a pasty, he will soon fill out. Thank goodness for elasticated waists and the baggy look!

Fitting in? For years we lived our lives for other people, trying to fit in with what they wanted and expected of us. We moved away, and found we were still misfits, but it wasn’t us, just the people we had chosen to associate with. That all changed when we bought the boat and became part of a caring community, both on and off the water.
Now we have been back on land for three years, and still ‘fit’ with our neighbourhood.

Haven’t exactly come unstuck with something fit for purpose though. We changed our car for something smaller six years ago, but it has proven too small on a number of occasions.
We’re unable to replace it at the moment, so enjoy the plus side of cheap road tax (Ā£20 per year), cheap insurance (less than Ā£200 for both of us to drive full comprehensive with protected no-claims) and economical to run (58 to 60 mpg).

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.

I think you two are a perfect fit šŸ’œ

  3. Sometimes things fit in a certain way because they are meant to. Another hard lesson to live with in life.

I am glad you fit in where you live now, and yay for cheap tax and insurance!

    • The only negative thing about living where we are is the health service….. or lack of it. It truly sucks and if you’re ill, basically, you’re on your own if you aren’t independently mobile.
