Create your own story by selecting one of the highlighted words in the following sentence:
The food in the new restaurant was delicious/different/challenging.
Recently divorced after a weight gain of 75 pounds and the wife running off with the butcher, Harry was now on his own and fending for himself, so when there was news of a new restaurant opening in town, he was all for giving it a whirl.
The Blue Habit was warm and welcoming inside, and he took a seat by the window to peruse the menu without having to strain his eyes.
Prices were reasonable and he decided to order something basic, so settled on bangers and mash with onion gravy.
The smell from the kitchen had his taste buds watering within minutes.
He could certainly say the food in the new restaurant was different.
Harry was used to colour on his plate as the ex had always seen to that when dishing up his meals, brown or white meat, roast, mashed or boiled potatoes, peas, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower, swede, beetroot, tomatoes, peppers, mushrooms, even the occasional sliced pineapple or peaches.
However, this was taking colour co-ordination too far as everything on his plate was blue. As to how it tasted he couldn’t say, as he suddenly lost his appetite.
I bet he must have had the blues for weeks.
ah! I know a young Mum who had a fussy kid so coloured his mashed potatoes blue so that he’d eat them!
Oh my!🤭😀😀
A great piece of fiction – learned that bangers were sausages and wondered if blue is same as bland – unappealing and often tasteless. I so enjoy your stories. 🙂
Not necessarily bland, just blue as in colour dye. Can you imagine, blue sausages in blue gravy with blue onions and blue mash.
Glad you like my tales June.
Yes, I enjoy your stories and a bonus I learn new words. No, I can’t even begin to imagine a plate of blue food – that’s fiction for certain.
I knew a young mum who used blue food colouring to dye her son’s mashed potatoes so that he’d eat them.
Wow!!
The only blue I can think of at this moment other than blueberries is blue raspberry sherbet and shades of frosting.
I guess some mums will do whatever it takes for their child to eat certain food items.
It worked for her for a while.
