This week she says:
Despite all the blogging advice and courses out there, many bloggers (myself foremost) feel that they made some mistakes when they started out. Today’s discussion involves a recap of the things that we did wrong and what we should have done instead. I am sure this will help lots of fledgling bloggers out there.
TODAY’S QUESTION
What mistakes did you make in the first few months of blogging?
WordPress was my only blog and recommended to me by Hubby as he’d had one going for years.
I remember my first views, likes and the occasional comment, and how excited I was.
As a newbie, my posts were too long so probably boring, and had no graphics.
I often go back and look at my early stuff, and the formatting is dull and unvaried too.
Now I try to keep my posts to around 500 words or less, so enjoy the word limit challenges, use my photos, internet images, prompt photos and suggestions, and try to have variety, including humour, which has perhaps been a little absent lately.
I enjoy your blogs. We are all in a state of flux right now, hanging on to what we can do.
Thanks Lauren. I enjoy it
I favor shorter posts. I always look forward to your posts Di.
thanks Sadje. I still get carried away sometimes though!
And those posts are great reads too.
ha! Thanks!
You’re welcome
My early posts were like yours – I just wanted to write – but learnt to keep my posts shorter and add photos. It’s nice to get Likes, after all. 😀
I enjoy reading about your everyday life, which is similar to, yet different from mine. 😀
Thanks Sci. Life here is routine, but we have the occasional ‘interesting’ moment!!
But your routine and mine are quite different sometimes – and that is the fun. 😀
true! I’ve always thought if everyone was exactly the same, life would be so dull!!
😀
I made the same mistakes that you mentioned, too long and no pictures when I started out.
I’m still learning, and the new editor hasn’t hit me yet!!
I’m not sure that lack of photos is a blogging mistake – but being able to switch it up does prevent the posts from blurring into each other!
very true!!
I enjoyed stopping by
thanks Sarah. Always nice to see a comment from you.
