A Better Day

Maggie slept through until 6.30 which was a definite plus after yesterday. She’s been giving us concern by not drinking, but that has now resolved itself thank goodness.
I took her for a walk around 6.15 tonight, then lay down for a nap. She joined me and I woke up at 8 pm feeling refreshed but with toothache!!  Two paracetamol and that’s sorted too.

Hubby’s INR was good and the numbers are going up. He has another test on Thursday.
From there we went and had our flu jabs. No problems other than hanging around even though we were early. I felt as if they were unable to do anything ahead of time, but it was done and dusted, and so far no after effects. Hubby told them about our October appointments and that they wouldn’t be required and the assistant said she’d check it out.
Come the 24th, we’ll probably get loads of reminder text messages again. Just need to sort out our pneumonia jabs now with the surgery, but with calls taking ages to be answered and then on hold for upwards of ten minutes, we’re going to write a note and drop it in.

Shopping next and we stocked up with milk and a few basics…….. bacon, soups, custard, ice cream etc……. so that’s all organised too just in case the panic buying starts or restrictions are put in place.
I also got the replacement cartridge for the printer and it’s now working again thanks to Hubby’s know-how and magic fixing touch.

I’ve had five walks with the dog and now we’ve retired to bed. She’s flaked out beside me.

I lit a candle today for an elderly lady who passed away in hospital last week. She hadn’t been well for quite a while, and there were problems getting a doctor to come and see her, either at home or in the care home where she was sent a little while ago. They sent her home last week, she was taken into hospital on Tuesday and died on Wednesday. The family were all allowed to be with her when she passed away, so she was surrounded by her loved ones.
I found out today that they had been married for 60 years and a big party had been planned and booked, but had to be cancelled because of the virus. So unfair. She will be sadly missed.

We’re both still feeling tired, but Hubby has had quite a positive day. The Ensure liquid meals also suit, so we have a choice, and the porridge is working on his constipation. There’s a lot of that about at the moment as various bloggers are either suffering or commenting.  I wrote a poem for Hubby about it. It’s no laughing matter really as it’s damn painful, but there are some rather nice remedies, like liquorice, dried apricots or chocolate brazils……….. well, they work for me!

About pensitivity101

I am a retired number cruncher with a vivid imagination and wacky sense of humour which extends to short stories and poetry. I love to cook and am a bit of a dog whisperer as I get on better with them than people sometimes! We have recently lost our beloved dog Maggie who adopted us as a 7 week old pup in March 2005. We decided to have a photo put on canvas as we had for her predecessor Barney, and now have three pictures of our fur babies on the wall as we found a snapshot of my GSD so had hers done too. From 2014 to 2017 'Home' was a 41 foot narrow boat where we made strong friendships both on and off the water. We were close to nature enjoying swan and duck families for neighbours, and it was a fascinating chapter in our lives. We now reside in a small bungalow on the Lincolnshire coast where we have forged new friendships and interests.
