If his Mum knew what he’d done, she’d be angry.
His new trainers weren’t cheap, but if she knew why, she would probably forgive him.
He had been running in the park and was joined by a scruffy kid with a beaming smile and bare feet.
They met up every day for a week and ran together.
The kid never complained, but he caught him looking at his trainers, then with a dazzling smile that separated his face, left him standing. Boy, that kid was fast!
So he left his trainers where they met up for the kid to find.
