It’s Monday and time for Share Your World meets Harry Potter
Roger Shipp provides the questions for Harry Potter and Melanie for the Share Your World.
Roger’s Magical, Mystical Questions:
- Have you ever driven the wrong way on a one-way street? How did this come about?
Fond memories of Amsterdam, public transport strike, hiring a car, left hand drive of course, and going the wrong way up a one way street on the wrong side of the road. Great way to end a honeymoon!! - As a kid, did you ever decide to run away? Did you have a plan? Take a pet? Sandwiches?
I did run away in 1972 due to heated insults directed at my Mum by the people we were staying with at the time. When I was found (at a friend’s), I said the only reason I’d go back would be to pack. We ended up staying with my grandfather for almost a year. - You suddenly found you have a hidden talent for playing a musical instrument. What musical instrument do you hope that accompanies your talent? Any particular song?
I’d love to be able to play the saxophone and any rendition of Blue Moon would be good! - Do you accessorize with jewelry? There was an opal necklace (cursed) and Slytherin’s locket (also cursed) in the Potter story. Have you had any heirloom jewelry passed down through the generations? Is it more ‘keepsake’ or do you wear it on occasion? (Hopefully, yours was not cursed?)
My Mum left me her mother’s Cameo brooch in her will. I haven’t worn it yet.
Melanie’s Ordinary Muggle Questions:
What ingredients go into YOUR favorite salad?
Prawns, apple, a little iceberg lettuce, cherry tomatoes, beetroot, plus low fat mayo.
Fruit salad would be strawberries, raspberries, grapes, pineapple and mango
If you care to, share something that really irritates you.
Usual moan: people who don’t clear up after their dogs.
Currently hospitals who don’t clear down ansaphones, extensions don’t work or can’t take calls, and basically nobody knowing what anyone else in the same department is doing.
What are your favorite ‘lounging around the house’ items of clothing? Now that a lot of people ‘lounge around the house’ waiting for the all clear in respect to Covid being shown the door, have those lounging items changed?
Joggers and tees, but that’s our usual standard of dress anyway.
GRATITUDE (as always this is optional)
Please feel free to share something about Autumn (or Spring if you’re gearing up for that) that you especially enjoy!
The holidaymakers go home……… YAY!!!
Great answers. Your scenery is just lovely.
Hubby put some pictures together for the panoramics, but the beach is lovely when there’s nobody on it!!
Thanks Di for Sharing Your (empty of tourists mostly) World! I bet you’re celebrating those lovely empty stretches of beach! Those salads sound delicious! Nothing wrong at all with joggers and tees…so comfy! When on my trip to Canada I was worried they’d be driving on the ‘wrong’ side of the road to Americans, but my fears were unfounded. They drove on the same side as the American way of doing it. The speed was difficult to calculate though… MPH versus KM (is it KM?) …luckily my car had a speedometer that flipped to the speed regulation and back again when we got back to America. Interesting!
Cheers Melanie. I had the same thoughts in NZ but they drove on the same side as us Brits. Mind you I didn’t actually get behind the wheel for over 2 months!! Knw what you mean about speed though. Our speedo has both.
Very well answered Di.
Thanks!
You’re welcome
Love the photos of the empty beach! What a relief!
It is so nice when we’ve got it back to ourselves.
In our youth, I went with a mate to buy a sax, for him. The salesman played some brilliant jazz on it for us – neither of us played – then when we got it back to his place, we couldn’t get a note out of it.
Reminds me of the day I bought my piano in 1998
